Dr. Christine Klein is a Professor of Neurology and Neurogenetics. She completed a fellowship in Molecular Neurogenetics in Boston and a series of summer sabbaticals in movement disorders in Toronto in 2004-2015. She was appointed Lichtenberg Professor at the Department of Neurology of Luebeck University in 2005, where her research has focused on the clinical and molecular genetics of movement disorders and its functional consequences. In 2009, Dr. Klein was appointed Schilling Professor of Clinical and Molecular Neurogenetics at the University of Luebeck and became Director of the newly founded Institute of Neurogenetics in 2013. Dr. Klein is Deputy Editor of ‘Movement Disorders’ and ‘Science Advances’, was President of the German Neurological Society in 2019/2020, and is the current Chair of the European Section of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS-ES). She was elected a member of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in 2021.

Eric McDade, DO, is Professor of Neurology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. His research interests include the application of cerebrospinal fluid and neuroimaging measures to identify early pathology of Alzheimer’s disease with the ultimate goal of identifying early markers of Alzheimer’s disease progression that can be used in testing disease modifying therapies.

Dr. McDade serves as the Co-Director of the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer’s Disease Trials Unit and the Clinical Core Leader of the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network Observational Study where he and his colleagues are using a global, natural history study to develop prevention trials to in Dominantly Inherited AD. As part of this work he has co-lead an initiative to comprehensively study the changes of soluble tau-related biomarkers and is the Principle Investigator of the first ever primary prevention trial in familial Alzheimer disease which will test whether preventing the development of amyloid plaques will prevent the development of dementia in those with a genetic form of the Alzheimer’s disease that leads to young-onset dementia.
